Rogate Propers

Rogate   17. May 2020

Introit (Psalm 95,1-3.6-7; John 16,24b)
Ask, and you will receive, Hallelujah,
so that your joy may be full, Hallelujah.
O let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us enter into His presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise!
For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
O let us worship and bow down;
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture,
and the sheep of His hand.
Ask, and you will receive, Hallelujah,
so that your joy may be full, Hallelujah.

Collect of the Day
O God, the Giver of all that is good, by Your holy inspiration grant that we may think those things that are right and by Your merciful guiding accomplish them; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.

Exodus 32,7-14
7And the Lord said to Moses: „Go down, for Your people, whom You brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves. 8They have turned aside quickly out of the way that I commanded them. They have made for themselves a golden calf and have worshiped it and sacrificed to it and said: ‘These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt!’“ 9And the Lord said to Moses: “I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people. 10Now therefore let Me alone, so that My wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them, in order that I may make a great nation of you.“ 11But Moses implored the Lord his God and said: „O Lord, why does Your wrath burn hot against Your people, whom You have brought out of the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand? 12Why should the Egyptians say: ‘With evil intent did he bring them out, to kill them in the mountains and to consume them from the face of the earth’? Turn from Your burning anger and relent from this disaster against Your people. 13Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants, to whom You swore by Your own self, and said to them, ‘I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.’“ 14And the Lord relented from the disaster that He had spoken of bringing on His people.

Verse (Psalm 66,20; Luke 24,6.34)
Alleluia. Blessed be God, because He has not rejected my prayer or removed His steadfast love from me! Alleluia. Remember how He told you, while He was still in Galilee, saying: „The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!“ Alleluia.

James 1,22-27
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. 24For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. 25But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.
26If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person’s religion is worthless. 27Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

John 16,23-30
23Jesus said to His disciples: „In that day you will ask nothing of Me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in My Name, He will give it to you. 24Until now you have asked nothing in My Name. Ask, and you will receive, so that your joy may be full.
25„I have said these things to you in figures of speech. The hour is arriving when I will no longer speak to you in figures of speech but will tell you plainly about the Father. 26In that day you will ask in My Name, and I do not say to you that I will ask the Father on your behalf; 27for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I arrived from God. 28I arrived from the Father and have gone into the world, and now I am leaving the world and going to the Father.“ 29His disciples said: „Ah, now You are speaking plainly and not using figurative speech! 30Now we know that You know all things and do not need anyone to question You; this is why we believe that You arrived from God.“
